Ah good point fishfinder, that could have a serious impact on the fisheries real quick. Its always about the buck and it sucks no matter how you dress it up. People cannot just leave things alone. I can just imagine whats going on in some far away underground labs.

I might have to reuse the hook on the first one I tied because it didn't turn out very well! I would definately be interested in a tying session, would make it alot easier to learn. Let me know when you guys are thinking about doing it

Nice ties !! I'm a big fan of soft hackles for chrome :)

For your Intruder'ish style flies , try using PowerPro braid in #50 . Make a 1.5" loop and secure the tag ends to the shank . Then just fold the loop and place it through the eye of the trailer hook . If the trailer hook gets damaged , you can easily replace it .

Very nice colour schemes as well !! Those will hunt for sure ;)

CPR for Bronte Creek: deeper channel, more shade

THE HAMILTON SPECTATOR

Bronte Creek Rehab - TheSpec (http://www.thespec.com ews/local/article/249684--cpr-for-bronte-creek-deeper-channel-more-shade)

A Bronte Creek restoration project in north Burlington is expected to rehabilitate the waterway from the effects of urban development.

“Presently, Bronte Creek is running a fever,” said Trout Unlimited biologist Jack Imhof, explaining how development has warmed and polluted the creek. “We need to bring that fever down.”

The Restoration of Bronte Creek in Lowville Park project will plant more trees along the creek in the park and narrow the waterway to encourage habitat for fish and other wildlife, said fellow biologist Mary Finch. It means the creek won’t be as shallow as it is now in some areas of the park, but brook trout and Atlantic salmon, two species once natural to the area, can be re-introduced, she said.

The project is “CPR for the creek,” and a model for restoration in areas of urban development said Trout Unlimited executive-director Len Yust. "When the fish come back as is hoped, it’s a sign it’s working.… If trout is present, there’s clean water.”

Conservation Halton chairperson Brian Penman said the project is a smaller model of what landowners along the entire Bronte Creek watershed can do. It is important to the region’s drinking water as well as wildlife since the creek empties into Lake Ontario, the source for 90 per cent of the people in the conservation authority’s watershed.

The $300,000 project was highlighted by officials at Lowville Park during a federal government funding contribution announcement yesterday of $90,000. Other funding includes $100,000 from the City of Burlington and $20,000 from Trout Unlimited, the project proponent.

I have no idea what each person uses wader wise but i have a set of the basic bare neoprenes- now the only reason in mentioning if that ive had them for 5 years this year, im not the easiest person on my equipment and believe that you dont always have to buy the most expensive

Id suggest bare if you want to go neoprene. For a breathable i have no idea as im looking at some for the fall myself and cant comment. I do know that the store on woodlawn road in guelph Kingsway have frogg toggs breathable- have heard bad reports have heard good reports but then the same also applies to simms-

boot wise i still have the argument with my buddies- felt sole or rubber. seeing as i like to be different i went last fall and bought the chota rock loc with the studded rubber sold- I will never look at felt again. I have no problems in the mud, snow, slippery banks, slimey rocks- nothing sticks to them the way it does with the felt- again i just changed last year- thats 4 years i had my old chotas

thats my input hope it helps

sure thing! what do you need to know? i been using smaller hooks lately, hoping for som bigger brown later on. the REAL streamers i use for the browns i usually keep a bit of a secret.... its a modern version of a sculpin. verry verry realistic. i can send a privat pictures if you like of my more sucessful flys.

But as for the old streamers, i free style sometimes rather then sticking to fully dressed spey or salmon streamers. the smaller hooks i been using lately are size 6 salmons. the one you liked is larger.

basic stuff really regular 6/0 or 8/0 string. i cut my own silver and gold from x mass wrapping, so i can gage my own thicknes'. then its the basic old materials from there. ah phesant ( i get the whole head) peacock/ostrige, hackel ( the big ones people hardly use) for wings, coloured feathers you can buy from the dollar store for collars !! partrige and gunnie hens also. most tyere have all this.
here you can find some instructions from sites, or nice pictures you can coppy.

The trick is making it to please the fisherman! not so much the fish, i honestly bekieve they dont care howw fancy the hook looks. Its just practice makes perfect. I find some new modern patterns are harder to tie, the salmon flys only take time to look nice.

if there is any thing specfic you would like to know just let me know.
